Sr. Copywriter, Canada

DoorDash CanadaVancouver, BC

About The Position

DoorDash's mission is to grow and empower local economies by building intelligent, last-mile delivery technology, connecting people with local businesses. To further this mission, DoorDash is growing its award-winning Creative Studio, Superette, which is populated by diverse talent that inspires and creates, takes risks, challenges each other, and inspires new ways of thinking to create pivotal work. The company is looking for a Senior Copywriter to help shape DoorDash's presence across the Canadian market, covering both brand and performance. This role involves driving high-performing messaging for acquisition, engagement, and retention, while also contributing to broader brand storytelling and campaign work. The Senior Copywriter will partner closely with Growth, Marketing, Design, and Brand teams to develop and optimize copy across various channels, including paid media, CRM, in-app, and campaign moments. The role requires writing, adapting, and originating work in both English and French, ensuring ideas are culturally native, with a focus on clarity, cultural nuance, and impact across performance copy, brand campaigns, and transcreation. This is a hands-on role with direct influence on creative quality and business outcomes, involving scaling effective strategies, contributing to messaging systems, and shaping DoorDash's communication in Canada.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in bi-lingual copywriting, with a focus on brand and/or performance marketing
  • Proven track record of writing copy that drives measurable results (e.g., CPA, CTR, conversion improvements)
  • Experience building and optimizing creative through A/B testing and rapid iteration
  • Strong understanding of how messaging impacts acquisition, engagement, and lifecycle performance
  • Ability to contribute to both performance-driven work and brand storytelling
  • Experience adapting messaging across formats — from rapid testing to larger campaign narratives
  • Strong understanding of messaging hierarchy and customer journey across channels
  • Ability to balance creative thinking with performance data to produce effective, on-brand copy
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to stakeholders
  • Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment
  • Fluent in English and French (written and verbal)
  • Ability to write idiomatically in Canadian French — not just translate
  • Strong understanding of regional nuances across Canada (e.g., Quebec vs. Rest of Canada)
  • Ability to adapt tone, phrasing, and cultural references to ensure copy feels native in each market

Responsibilities

  • Drive high-performing copy across both brand and growth touchpoints for Canada, improving acquisition efficiency and overall impact
  • Sustain DoorDash’s voice in the Canadian market — ensuring consistency, clarity, and cultural relevance across English and French
  • Partner closely with Growth, Marketing, Design, and Brand to increase testing velocity and creative output across a bilingual market
  • Build, test, and iterate copy across channels — including paid social, email, push, display, in-app, and brand campaigns
  • Translate insights, data, and briefs into clear, effective messaging that balances performance and brand
  • Identify, scale, and evolve top-performing creative to improve CPA and overall campaign performance
  • Contribute to campaign concepting and brand storytelling when needed, beyond performance-focused work
  • Develop bilingual campaigns in English and French, ensuring work resonates natively in each language
  • Create net-new copy in both languages — not direct translations — adapting ideas to fit cultural context
  • Support transcreation and localization efforts across campaigns and product surfaces
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure cohesive, effective work across all touchpoints
