About The Position

Provide hands-on support for installation, wiring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems. Assist the Controls Engineer with implementing PLC/HMI programs, commissioning new systems, and ensuring reliable plant automation.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree Industrial Instrumentation, Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Controls Systems.
  • Proven track record of successful completion of projects involving software integration, calibration or troubleshooting.
  • Ability to produce and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong written communication skills with a keen eye for details in documents.
  • Interfacing with equipment, entering/retrieving data, and using computer and phone.
  • Walking to other departments and passing through manufacturing areas on a routine basis.
  • Some heavy lifting.
  • Operating lab and testing equipment.
  • Initiative to pursue issues and opportunities.
  • Dedication to completion of all actions.

  • Experience with electrical control panel design, building, and wiring.

Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, and test control panels, sensors, and field devices under the direction of the Controls Engineer.
  • Assist with I/O checkout, loop testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Support integration of VFDs, instrumentation, and control hardware.
  • Diagnoses and repair issues with PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, and related devices.
  • Provide first-line support for downtime events involving control systems.
  • Assist Controls Engineer with program downloads, backups, and revision management.
  • Provide operator and maintenance staff with training on control system use and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate records of system wiring, device layouts, and control panel configurations.
  • Follow electrical safety practices and plant lockout/tagout standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, NFPA 79, and UL 508A standards.
  • Work closely with Controls Engineer to implement system changes and upgrades.
  • Provide input on ease of maintenance and wiring best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement projects by assisting with control modifications and hardware upgrades.
