About The Position

DPP is seeking a Sr. Control Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in the Engineering and Industrial Automation industry. This role is onsite in Kernersville, NC. The position involves developing control logic software and user interface applications, assisting with system start-up and debugging, and developing system documentation. The engineer will work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in various industries, including semiconductors, pulp and paper, and food and beverage. The role requires the ability to work independently and in a cleanroom environment according to semiconductor protocols. A strong understanding of technical documentation such as P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and vendor manuals is necessary, along with the interpretation of ISA standards. The Sr. Control Engineer will also serve as a technical lead, guiding junior engineers and technicians. General administrative tasks are also part of the role, and significant work will be in Data Centers.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 25% to job sites.
  • Must know Rockwell software and hardware.
  • An in-depth understanding of control systems, components, ladder logic programming, SCADA programming and their applications.
  • Experience with PLC programming of Allen Bradley PLCs (Rockwell 5, 500, 5000, Device Net, Point I/O).
  • Experience with VFD programming (Preferably Allen-Bradley or ABB VFDs).
  • Experience with Ignition or GE Cimplicity SCADA systems.
  • Experience with the development of sequence of operations, functional acceptance, and operational acceptance documentation.
  • Experience with PID loop tuning (Open and Closed Loops).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Controls Engineering is preferred.
  • An Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent with equivalent experience may be substituted.
  • Experience of 5-10 years in areas below is preferred.
  • Additional experience in GE or other PLC platforms is a plus.
  • Python and SQL scripting experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop control logic software and user interface applications.
  • Assist with initial start-up and debug integrated systems.
  • Develop system documentation.
  • Work on automation and control system integration projects for clients in industries such as semiconductors, pulp and paper, food and beverage, etc.
  • Work well with others and self-directed with only general supervision.
  • Works in a cleanroom environment per semi-conductor protocols/requirements.
  • Understand piping and instrument diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets, databases and vendor manuals.
  • Interpret and utilize appropriate ISA standards and practices.
  • Act as technical lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians.
  • General administration such as paperwork, copying, printing, faxing, and using a computer.
  • Data Center work is prominent.
