About The Position

The Sr. Consultant, Procurement manages the end to end procurement activities focusing primarily on software, Saas and IT Services. In this role, you will define issues, recommend an engagement and contract approach and resolve in an innovative way when a request is presented in an ambiguous manner. You work in a self-regulated manner and are responsible for the contract projects you are assigned including procurement research & strategy, vendor selection, deal negotiation, deal presentation, and the contract approval process. You will work with minimal direction with a mission to cut costs, minimize risks, and drive continuous improvement on moderate to high complexity projects. The Sr. Consultant co-ordinates the inputs of CIBC's legal resources, subject matter experts and the line-of-business to create a contract that sets both CIBC and the supplier up for success. You will develop contract content (ex. commercial terms and descriptive content) independently or in partnership with a subject matter expert. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in procurement and/or supplier processes, practices, tools and templates and principles of formal sourcing processes.
  • Strong self-planning skills sufficient to plan your own assignments according to general work plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience drafting various contract schedules (e.g., Scope of Work, Commercial Terms, etc.) is preferred but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of SaaS or Cloud, and IT Services based contracts would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the inputs of CIBC's legal resources, subject matter experts and the line-of-business to create a contract that sets both CIBC and the supplier up for success.
  • Develop contract content (ex. commercial terms and descriptive content) independently or in partnership with a subject matter expert.
  • Help internal line-of-business clients meet their business goals by providing better service and value.

  • Ensure CIBC’s supplier management framework is implemented by working with Supplier Risk Stakeholders, Relationship Managers and Business Leads.
  • Ensure the appropriate governance is followed and adhered to for all contracts.
  • Keep abreast of the industry knowledge, innovations and advancements in business practices and technologies.
  • Become a strong influencer and negotiator with the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Manage contract drafting, negotiations and finalization and the approval processes.
  • Comply with CIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and process.
  • Listen, ask questions, and put yourself in the client’s shoes.
