About The Position

The Network & Security Engineer Senior Consultant operates Visa’s internal data communications systems, including LANs and WANs. This role plans, designs, and implements networked systems, manages configurations, supports and troubleshoots network problems, and coordinates with vendors for installation of routers, bridges, concentrators, and switches. The position is responsible for project implementation, provides training, assists with proposal writing, and conducts project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons. All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD Degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum two (2) years of experience in a directly related field OR minimum four (4) years of directly related experience.
  • Experience in network design and engineering on customer-facing networks.
  • Experience in IP networking, switching, and routing in MPLS-based networks.
  • Experience with network hardware including certified experience with Cisco networking devices (formal certification to CCNP level or working towards CCNP is expected or relevant work experience).
  • Experience and expertise with IP routing protocols OSPF and BGP, plus knowledge of Cisco encryption technologies (IPSec, SSL), standby protocols HSRP and VRRP, and network address translation (NAT).
  • Experience in scripting to facilitate automation.
  • Experience deploying and using SDWAN technologies, particularly Cisco and Versa.
  • Experience working on connectivity solutions using leading public cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
  • Experience working in a variety of network operating models including managed services.
  • Experience in the use of network management tools such as Solarwinds and Netbrain.
  • Experience implementing engineering solutions for network monitoring and alarming tools, leveraging vendors such as Netcool, IBM SevOne/ITNM, Solarwinds, Netscout, Netbrain, and Thousandeyes.
  • Familiarity with DMVPN implementation in a high availability setting.
  • Experience with DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM) in an enterprise network, with a solid understanding of DNS and DHCP concepts.
  • Experience with open-source infrastructure as code software and automation software development tools including Terraform, Terragrunt, env0, Ansible, Python, Chef, Puppet, or Salt.
  • Experience with container technologies in a production environment (e.g. Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes) and related ecosystem products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, and support IP networks for Visa’s commercial network infrastructure, connecting Visa to commercial clients.
  • Plan, design, implement, and support network systems of moderate complexity in the commercial network environment.
  • Provide network design documentation to project teams, peers, and network support organizations.
  • Provision new client processing by completing necessary network updates and providing technical assistance to clients in support of network changes.
  • Perform third-level support within Visa to resolve network issues and provide guidance to other Visa teams involved in network troubleshooting.
  • Work with Cybersecurity to ensure Visa security standards are met and provide technical assistance for investigation and analysis of security events.
  • Oversee management and maintenance of DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM) infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability of DDI services.
  • Implement DNS changes and updates aligned with business requirements; provision new domains, networks, ACLs, templates, subnets, and DHCP scopes.
  • Develop self-service tools for application and infrastructure clients to gain better visibility of real-time network health and performance.
  • Architect, design, and deliver innovative solutions to enable public cloud connectivity with Private DCs, including developing standard automation templates for deployment of public cloud infrastructure and platform components.
  • Drive software development for Visa’s Infrastructure as Code (IAC) efforts across Private/Hybrid/Multi Cloud environments.
