Essential Responsibilities: What You'll Do As a Construction Manager, you'll serve as ATC's field representative, coordinating contractors, crews, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of transmission construction, distribution construction, or related utility construction experience.
  • Experience supporting field construction activities, contractor oversight, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with contractors, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and construction technology tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel across our footprint
  • Understanding of transmission line and/or substation construction practices.
  • Knowledge of contractor management and contract compliance.
  • Familiarity with labor, equipment, and material management.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and field documentation.
  • Understanding of construction quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site construction oversight for transmission line and substation projects.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications, contracts, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
  • Identify and remove barriers that could impact project schedules or field productivity.
  • Provide leadership and direction to contractors and construction crews to support successful project outcomes.
  • Serve as a visible safety leader in the field.
  • Observe work practices and reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Conduct safety conversations and address unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA requirements and ATC safety expectations.
  • Promote a culture where everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.
  • Review contractor daily reports and weekly attestations.
  • Validate labor, equipment, and material charges.
  • Ensure work is performed according to contract requirements and project expectations.
  • Coordinate construction activities among contractors and ATC functional groups.
  • Support construction scope changes through ATC's established field change management process.
  • Monitor construction quality and adherence to design requirements.
  • Prepare contractor performance evaluations and project status reports.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, material planning, and project readiness activities.
  • Ensure project closeout activities, documentation, and as-built records are completed accurately.
  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Environmental, and Safety teams.
  • Communicate construction activities with customers, landowners, and stakeholders.
  • Develop solutions that balance operational, customer, environmental, and project requirements.
