About The Position

The Sr. Construction Engineer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing capital construction projects to ensure they are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, GMP requirements, and quality standards. This position serves as a technical resource during all phases of construction, collaborating with project managers, contractors, architects, engineers, operations, quality, EH&S, and facility teams to resolve engineering and construction challenges while ensuring successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction engineering, project engineering, or related experience preferably in a regulated industry such as medical devices, biologics, tissue-based products, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varying size, complexity, and lifecycle stage.
  • Knowledge of design and construction process and methods, materials, engineering principles, and project management practices.
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations, commissioning and qualification practices, and change management processes within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office).
  • Experience with engineering and construction software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Primavera P6, Bluebeam
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, and navigate active construction sites for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform field inspections in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to bend, kneel, crouch, and access confined or elevated work areas when required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to review construction drawings, inspect work quality, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel between project sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for capital construction projects from conceptual planning through commissioning and project closeout.
  • Review project designs, drawings, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy, constructability, GMP compliance, potential utility impacts, and adherence to applicable engineering standards
  • Identify impacts to facility utilities and coordinate with facility maintenance team to develop and execute required modifications, outages, and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, Operations, Quality, EH&S, and regulatory agencies to define project requirements, scope, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Support change control processes, impact assessments, and documentation associated with facility modifications in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Coordinate construction activities within active manufacturing environments while minimizing operational disruptions and maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget and resource; communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to approved designs and specifications; identify and resolve technical issues, construction conflicts, and field design changes.
  • Prepare and manage engineering documentation, RFIs, submittmits, design revisions, and construction records.
  • Support procurement activities through review of material specifications and evaluating contractor proposals.
  • Ensure construction activities and methods comply with GMP requirements, local, state, and federal codes, environmental regulations, and applicable site safety and quality procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement across all project activities.
