About The Position

Lanteris Space is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join their Composites Technology team in Palo Alto, CA. This role specializes in the production of complex composite parts and structures, ensuring high-quality requirements are maintained. The engineer will work with suppliers and customers to schedule and plan production, implement continuous improvement in product manufacturing, and provide project management support for advanced assemblies. The day-to-day involves using manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume, aerospace composite department, delivering space-qualified flight hardware. Responsibilities include supporting and overseeing the fabrication of precision aerospace hardware, influencing designs, improving processes, and increasing reliability. The role also involves coordinating resource management, engaging with design engineers on part and tooling assemblies, and updating processes based on Design for Manufacturing (DfM) concepts. Project management of hardware build schedules, leading unique projects from concept to fabrication, researching and implementing upgraded software, and updating processes and designs for technological advancements are also key aspects. Additionally, the engineer will review and manage training documents, coordinate new employee training, evaluate tooling, procure materials, and provide project status updates to management.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • BS degree in an engineering discipline or related field.
  • 5 years of experience.
  • A master's degree may account for an additional two years of experience.
  • Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Use manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume, aerospace composite department, delivering space-qualified flight hardware.
  • Directly support and oversee the fabrication of precision aerospace hardware.
  • Influence designs, improve processes, and increase reliability.
  • Coordinate efficient resource management and usage plan.
  • Engage with design engineers to review and approve part and tooling assemblies, updating and offering input based on improved Design for Manufacturing (DfM) concepts or solutions.
  • Provide project management of hardware build schedules which includes interfacing with internal and external groups.
  • Lead unique and advanced projects through concept to fabrication.
  • Research and coordinate implementation of upgraded software onto the production floor.
  • Update processes and designs to take advantage of added capabilities and technology advancements.
  • Review, update, and manage various training and process documents, coordinate new employee training and support the process of quickly inserting new engineers and employees into similar roles.
  • Evaluate and inventory new and existing tooling.
  • Evaluate and procure flight and support materials for projects.
  • Provide project status to management.
