About The Position

Blue Canyon Technologies (BCT), RTX's small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider, is solving tough challenges in space with cost-effective systems. BCT supports premier defense, commercial, and civil organizations. The Sr. Components Product Manager owns the strategic, execution, and financial leadership of a defined product line, driving the full product lifecycle in alignment with market dynamics, customer requirements, and business growth objectives. This role leads the BCT XACT product line, an Attitude Determination and Control System for the small spacecraft market. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, a sharp business mind, and a proven ability to strategize and manage product line initiatives. This role requires an outside-the-box thinker with sharp commercial instincts who can communicate effectively with the business. The candidate will thrive at the intersection of customer execution and business strategy, translating insights into market-winning product decisions. They should be comfortable negotiating with customers, setting product roadmap priorities, and leading cross-functional teams. This position blends aerospace Program Management discipline with a New Space product leader's growth-oriented mindset.

Requirements

  • 7-12 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Engineering, Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated Space hardware Program Manager experience
  • Experience with all phases of the product life cycle (business development, concept formulation, requirements flow-down, manufacturing, integration and test, and post-delivery support)
  • Excellent understanding of systems engineering principles and all elements of the product lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and execute without direct authority
  • Excellent PMO and financial acumen (cost structures, risk and opportunities, return on investment)
  • Experience supporting customer proposals/bids
  • Demonstrated soft skills to work with large/small and domestic/international customers in a rapidly changing environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with emphasis on rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities
  • Demonstrated leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Good documentation and communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Italian, Korean, Hindi, or Finnish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the product line vision and roadmap alongside the technical lead, aligning with company financial and technical objectives.
  • Own the business case for new product initiatives, customer value proposition changes, and hardware market positioning.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, finance) to improve robustness and on-time delivery.
  • Support pricing strategies in collaboration with sales, finance, and leadership.
  • Forecast and own product line budgets, including IRAD efforts.
  • Foster customer relationships and serve as their voice within the business.
  • Monitor and implement action plans for product line performance KPIs (e.g., cost per unit, on-time delivery, first pass yield).
  • Manage product transitions, obsolescence, and end-of-life planning.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies with the product technical lead.
  • Work closely with customers to refine needs and provide innovative solutions with existing products.
  • Manage flight contracts to meet technical and cost obligations with domestic and international customers.
  • Ensure all business is conducted ethically and in compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage product line risks and opportunities.
  • Manage complex cross-functional activities such as contract negotiations, scope discrepancies, and performance expectations.
  • Provide mentorship opportunities to junior PMs.
  • May include personnel management responsibilities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
