SR Coding & CDI Specialist- 40/hrs, Day Shifts
About The Position
The Sr Coding and CDI Specialist conducts in-depth reviews of clinical documentation to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements, clinical validation, and accurate coding for Temple University Health System. The specialist provides coding expertise and guidance to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals; identifies and addresses coding-related compliance issues; and facilitates improvements in the quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation. The role stays current with coding guidelines, regulations, and industry changes, and serves as an expert resource for CDI and Coding teams on coding compliance, clinical validation, PSIs, HACs, and Vizient variables. The specialist communicates and collaborates with CDI and Coding Leadership teams to provide feedback on medical chart reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience in lieu of a degree.
- Five years of experience in inpatient-record Coding and/or CDI.
- Expert knowledge of ICD, CPT, DRG, and APC coding and classification.
- Certified Coding Specialist or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist credential.
Nice To Haves
- General experience with EPIC.
- Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License or multistate compact RN license.
