About The Position

Crescent is seeking an experienced Sr. Cloud Engineer to design, build, automate, and support our Microsoft Azure environment. This role will be a senior hands-on engineering position within Platform Engineering and will focus on Azure infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), identity and access management, platform automation, governance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Terraform, and modern cloud operating practices. This individual will help mature our cloud platform, improve standardization and security, enable scalable self-service patterns, and partner closely with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams. The Sr. Cloud Engineer will report to the Platform Engineering Manager, who in turn reports to the Head of Enterprise Services. Please be aware that this role is on-Site, full-time in office 5 days/week

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 6–8 years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code, including module design, state management, and deployment workflows.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID administration and engineering, including RBAC, conditional access, enterprise applications, identity governance, and hybrid identity concepts.
  • Experience building and supporting secure, scalable cloud environments using standardized and automated deployment approaches.
  • Solid understanding of Azure governance, subscription design, management groups, policy, tagging, cost management, and operational guardrails.
  • Experience with cloud security concepts including least privilege access, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and control enforcement.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking concepts including virtual networks, peering, routing, private endpoints, VPN connectivity, DNS, and network security controls.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, backup, disaster recovery, and operational support in cloud environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting hybrid enterprise environments spanning on-premises infrastructure, Azure, and operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling used to deploy or validate Terraform-based infrastructure.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for cloud automation and operational scripting.
  • Experience with Azure landing zones, shared services design, and subscription-scale governance models.
  • Strong familiarity with operational technology (OT), industrial systems, and regulated multi-site operating environments.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization and platform standardization initiatives.
  • Microsoft and HashiCorp certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or Terraform Associate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure and shared cloud services.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision, standardize, and manage Azure resources.
  • Engineer and support Microsoft Entra ID capabilities, including identity lifecycle, role-based access control, privileged access, conditional access, enterprise applications, and hybrid identity integrations.
  • Develop and maintain reusable cloud patterns, modules, and templates for secure, scalable Azure deployments.
  • Partner with networking and security teams to implement cloud networking, segmentation, private connectivity, DNS, security controls, and policy enforcement in Azure.
  • Support and enhance Azure governance through management groups, subscriptions, policies, tagging standards, guardrails, cost controls, and compliance-aligned configurations.
  • Implement and support core Azure services such as virtual networks, virtual machines, storage, backup, recovery services, key vaults, monitoring, and platform security services.
  • Automate operational processes, environment provisioning, configuration management, and platform maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with application, data, and infrastructure teams to enable reliable cloud-hosted solutions and platform services.
  • Troubleshoot complex cloud, identity, access, automation, and platform issues through to resolution.
  • Support production operations, platform stability, and service continuity across critical enterprise and operational technology environments.
  • Document platform designs, standards, configurations, procedures, and handoff materials for operational support and audit readiness.
  • Contribute to cloud architecture reviews, continuous improvement efforts, and long-term platform engineering roadmap activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help drive consistent engineering standards, documentation discipline, and automation-first practices across the team.
