About The Position

This role focuses on maintaining relationships and monitoring the performance of information technology vendors contracted for outsourced services. The position involves analyzing public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) spending against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas of waste and optimization, and evaluating utilization rates. A key responsibility is extracting and analyzing large-scale data within cloud billing and usage to support senior engineering and financial partners in decision-making. The role also includes describing and implementing opportunities for price optimization initiatives with public cloud vendors, such as Reserved Instances (RIs) and Monthly Savings Plans. Additionally, the Sr Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the identification, implementation, and maintenance of AWS Key Performance Indicators. This involves extracting and analyzing sophisticated datasets using SQL queries, Python, and R, and configuring analytics platforms like Looker and Portal Lightdash to create dashboards and reports for business insights and development. Monitoring service level objectives through Grafana dashboards to track metrics like service status and creating alerts for significant changes in key metrics are also crucial aspects of this role.

Requirements

Master's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics or related field.
Completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in Public cloud GCP BigQuery data analysis.
Completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in Cloud data machine learning modeling.
Completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in Cloud data visualization using Python and SQL.
Completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in Extracting and processing large-scale datasets using SQL queries and Python.
Completion of a university level course, research project, internship, or thesis in Configuring analytics platforms comparable to Looker to build dashboards and create reports.

Responsibilities

Maintains the relationships and monitors performance of information technology vendors contracted for the delivery of outsourced services.
Public (AWS, Azure, GCP) analysis of actuals to budget / forecast, analyze key areas of waste and optimization, and utilization rates.
Extract and analyze large scale data within cloud billing and usage, to support senior engineering and financial partners in decision making.
Describe and implement opportunities for price optimizations initiatives with public cloud vendors including Reserved Instances (RIs) and Monthly Savings Plans.
Identification, implementation, and maintenance of AWS Key Performance Indicators.
Extract and analyze sophisticated datasets using well optimized SQL queries, Python and R.
Configure analytics platforms Looker and Portal Lightdash to create dashboards and reports to provide business insights and drive business development.
Monitor service level objectives by building Grafana dashboards to track metrics like service status.
Create alerts for significant changes in key metrics for teams to address anomalies in time.
