Sr. Civil/Structural Engineer

About The Position

Apply appropriate theoretical and practical engineering principles to contribute to the overall success of Propak's operations through interaction with cross-functional engineering teams. Ensure designs and installations comply with codes, standards, and client specifications. This role involves performing structural design of modular steel packages, pipe racks, and pipe supports, as well as designing concrete and steel foundations for structures, compressor packages, and tanks. The engineer will also analyze soil reports for foundation selection, specify and design pipe supports, and perform lifting analysis. Additionally, the position requires checking and reviewing designs by Civil/Structural Engineers, approving structural steel and civil drawings, participating in 3D model reviews, and liaising with other disciplines. Coordination with cross-functional engineering discipline teams including Process, Mechanical Drafting, and Project Engineering is essential. The role also includes assisting with resolving technical issues in the shop or in the field, preparing documents and reports, creating weekly progress and status reports, and guiding junior personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer registered and in good standing with Alberta Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGA) or eligible for membership
  • 10+ years’ of directly related experience in civil and structural design of oil and gas process facilities
  • Experience within an EPC and EPCM work environment
  • Fabrication shop designing experience
  • Proficiency with S-FRAME engineering software
  • Experience with Canadian (NBCC, CSA, CISC) and US (UBC, ASCE, AISC) building, structural, and concrete codes
  • Experience with design of concrete and steel pile foundations
  • Experienced in FEA, vibration analysis, and impact/shock related problems
  • Sound knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM) and vibration theory
