About The Position

This position is for a Sr. Construction Inspector (Civil) starting immediately at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, NY. The scope of work primarily involves airport and building concrete work, civil site work, paving work, drainage systems, hydrant fuel systems, structural, and maintenance of traffic. Some knowledge of electrical, environmental, and plumbing is also required.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specs.
  • Ability to prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.
  • Ability to identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer advised of potential issues.
  • Ability to review plans for constructability and prepare comments.
  • Ability to conduct preconstruction and construction progress meetings.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple work locations.
  • Ability to perform audit inspection throughout the construction process.
  • Ability to coordinate for quality assurance inspection of completed work.
  • Ability to actively coordinate between private business entities at LGA, and the various departments within the facility.
  • Ability to verify safety procedures are maintained.
  • Working knowledge of NYCBC.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience inspecting construction work varying in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance and LGA SIDA card.
  • Trained in OSHA 30-hour construction safety.
  • 2-Hour Awareness Level – MPT.
  • 4-Hour Awareness Level – Excavation/Trenching.
  • 8-Hour User Level – Fall Protection/Lift.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Aeronautical construction experience.
  • ICC/NICET Level 3 Asphalt or Highway Construction.
  • ACI Concrete Special Inspector.
  • Work Zone Safety Certifications.

Responsibilities
