About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to provide cost-effective, user-friendly, and attractive developments for private owners and municipal clients, as well as develop new client relationships. This role involves planning, designing, and managing a variety of owner-driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion. The engineer will support clients on Land Development projects, collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and client consultants, and balance project schedules and staffing. Responsibilities also include preparing project proposals, assisting with business development, and supporting the professional growth of junior staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 15+ years of civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • Strong team player that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
  • Strong background in site design for both greenfield and redevelopment projects
  • Strong background and working knowledge of IDOT Standard Specifications and requirements
  • Extensive experience with municipal/development related transportation projects

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) a plus
  • Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water management design experience a plus
  • Ability to effectively manage clients and participate in business development activities
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience
  • Contract and negotiating skills

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage a variety of owner-driven civil engineering projects
  • Organize and complete projects from inception to completion
  • Support internal and external clients on Land Development related projects
