About The Position

Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking an energetic, highly motivated person with great organizational, communication, and training skills as a Senior Child Support Agent for our Child Support Services Division. This person will conduct training for new hires and current staff that will include some virtual training and some in-person, over-the-shoulder support. The Sr. Child Support Agent develops and updates training materials as needed. The Sr. Child Support Agent is also responsible for covering vacant caseloads which can be in any of the functional areas – establishment, enforcement, intergovernmental, or office support. They train new employees to interact with custodial and non-custodial parents and other caretakers to establish and/or enforce Child Support payment agreements for the care of minor children. The position also involves frequent interaction with legal and judicial professionals, employers, county and state employees, as well as the general public. This position calls for the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and collaboration with the other members of the leadership team, including three other Sr. Child Support Agents.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work.
  • One year of experience in Child Support Enforcement.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to and from the courthouse.
  • Effective typing skills.
  • Effective data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct training for new hires and current staff, including virtual and in-person support.
  • Develop and update training materials.
  • Cover vacant caseloads in establishment, enforcement, intergovernmental, or office support.
  • Train new employees to interact with custodial and non-custodial parents and other caretakers to establish and/or enforce Child Support payment agreements.
  • Establish paternity and support.
  • Enforce civil orders.
  • Verify employment and location of non-custodial parents.
  • Generate and send wage withholdings.
  • Intercept state and federal income taxes.
  • Perform other legal and administrative enforcement remedies.
  • Give testimony in court.
  • Verify all information needed.
  • Train new employees on court testimony and information verification.
  • Provide daily use and training on the Automated Collection and Tracking System (ACTS).
