About The Position

This position does not offer visa sponsorship SENIOR CHEMIST Kansas City, MO DeLaval a global supplier of formulated sanitizers and topical disinfectants and detergents, is seeking a Senior Chemist to support our development of cleaners and sanitizers for dairy farm and food processing industries. BASIC FUNCTION The Senior Chemist, reporting to the Laboratory Manager for Research and Development, leads the development of new and improved products, as well as the development of analytical methods for product specification, manufacturing and / or regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • MS in Chemistry with >5 yrs years of experience, or a Ph. D in Chemistry with <5 years of experience in laboratory environment, specifically with product formulation required
  • Working expertise with instrumentation such as HPLC, UV/VIS spectrophotometer, Viscometer, Autotitrator, required.
  • Understanding of lab safety and the ability to work safely with chemicals required.
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently, yet function and participate as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; specifically technical writing
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Laboratory experience in formulation development and testing related to antimicrobial, sanitizing, disinfecting or cleaning products preferred.
  • Willing to learn about project management.
  • Peer-reviewed or patent publication record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently planning, carrying out, and reporting results on research projects.
  • Project manager for research projects.
  • Leading and conducting formulation work for new product development and improvement of current products.
  • Conducting routine physical and chemical tests for assigned projects.
  • Carrying out maintenance for laboratory equipment.
  • Scale up new products.
  • Work with quality control on transferring new test methods.
  • Run stability studies part of product registration.
  • Plan experiments, record data in the laboratory notebook.
  • Developing and validating new analytical test methods.
  • Active contributor of ideas for team’s project pipeline.
  • Preparing oral and written test reports, public presentations and posters, and patents.
