About The Position

We are looking for a curious, customer obsessed, driven and creative individual to join the Amazon Fresh category management team. The Category Manager will engage directly with multiple internal teams to optimize the assortment for key vendors and brands. You will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas such as category management, pricing, inventory management, operations, marketing, and finance to drive the performance of strategic vendor partners at Amazon. You will own a wide SKU count for your vendors so that your work is varied and challenging. The candidate possesses experience in buying, marketing, and/or finance, with a track record of successful relationship management, strong analytical acumen, and experience generating and managing reporting and analysis. Great communication skills and understanding of Excel will be essential to your success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will take ownership of projects and business problems to deliver a successful result. Our environment is fast-paced, and requires someone who is flexible, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with multiple teams, vendors, partners, and management. This team is a highly collaborative team of category managers and risk managers that collaborate across three offices (Arlington, Seattle, and NYC). We problem solve together and individually (often with weekly brainstorming sessions and open forums where we ideate on solutions), identify and implement scalable solutions for root causes, and above all obsess over our customer and potential customers. We celebrate one another's successes and support each other through headwinds as we work towards our shared goal of growing this category.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of with Excel experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management
  • Experience in account management, project/program management, or buying
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL

Responsibilities

  • Own the Retail P&L for your categories and regions
  • Lead the selection strategy for your categories
  • Establish and grow vendor relationships; partner with vendors to deliver improvements in customer experience and hold vendors accountable for operational performance
  • Own the Trade Planning Strategy for your categories to drive category growth, new customer growth, and returning customer retention
  • Be the ‘business owner’ for your vendors and regions, working autonomously and possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact your vendors
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external partners, while meeting tight deadlines
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability goals for your category
  • Analyze weekly and monthly performance metrics and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders to hit financial targets
  • Provide input for your category regarding promotional activity, space allocation, pricing, productivity analysis, and forecasting
