About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. The Leo team is looking for a Global Commodity Manager to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, and others as needed to execute on Leo objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
  • Experience in global supply chain management, managing cross-functional teams in a fast-paced consumer electronics product company
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor industry, processes, technologies and key suppliers
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing or related disciplines specific to Electronic components and semiconductors, and familiarity with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing and testing with EMS/JDM/ODM in high technology industry
  • 3+ years with supplier negotiation, purchasing agreements or development agreements
  • 3+ years of direct experience in component lifecycle management, last time buy (LTB) execution and mitigations and alternate sourcing qualifications

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Technical acumen in EE (Electrical Engineering), foundry and semiconductor components, design/development with ability to connect to related business matters such as cost, manufacturing cycle time and yields
  • 3+ years experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost models, negotiate MVA, NRE, and CAPEX/OPEX to ensure best-in-class cost for our products
  • Experience managing large value, multi-year contracts for complex engineered products
  • Experience in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, and/or Consumer Electronics industries
  • Experience working with a range of partners and component suppliers, including those engaged in technology development
  • Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Use industry and relevant data analysis, create and execute strategic sourcing plans for a technology, business unit, department, or project to help internal customers meet their goals
  • Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and industry developments that benefit Amazon’s customers
  • Influence suppliers' processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
  • Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable on-time delivery
  • Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
  • Drive supplier selection, on-boarding, qualification and development of Approved Manufacturers’ List
  • Evaluate and monitor critical supplier performance, including financial health, quality, on-time delivery, and cost
  • Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination
