About The Position

As a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Engineer on Starlink, you will spearhead the conversion of state-of-the-art PCB designs into production equipment readable files to produce PCBs. This position will be responsible for the utilization of CAM software to process design files to production outputs. You will understand specific file requirements of multiple manufacturing equipment (drilling, routing, electrical test.) You will work cross functionally to perform design rule checks to comply with manufacturing, trouble shoot issues and implement rapid design improvements. Your work will form the backbone for millions of next generation consumer-facing devices that we ship directly to customers and businesses all over the world. From private homes, RVs, planes, or boats, this team plays an instrumental role in leveling the playing field for high-speed connectivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of PCB CAM & manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Ability to solve complex problems utilizing engineering first principles with minimal supervision on tight schedules
  • Strong Interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • CAM software proficiency with industry standards
  • CNC programming experience
  • Knowledge of IPC manufacturing standards
  • Experience diagnosing PCB failure modes and root cause analysis
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing of stack up analysis
  • Experience with taking products from research and development into production.
  • Willingness to travel to other SpaceX sites and/or vendors for potentially extended periods of time including international
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Willing to work onsite; remote work is not considered
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze PCB designs to convert design files to usable outputs for machine on the production floor.
  • Perform netlist extraction and compare again the original design for data accuracy.
  • Perform comprehensive Design Rule Checks (DRC) & Design or Manufacturability (DFM) to identify potential manufacturing issues.
  • Clearly communicate findings with recommendations.
  • Create efficient panel layouts that maximize material usage.
  • Ensure all outputs comply with design specification and industry standards. (IPC)
  • Maintain proper revision & change control of documentation
  • Develop and maintain CAM automation scripts and post processors.
