About The Position

The Senior CAD Designer generates comprehensive erection and shop drawings for fabricated members, including detailed bills of materials covering field fasteners and miscellaneous items. The role uses relevant detailing standards and 3D and 2D software. It supports fabrication and production through drawing reviews and revisions, assistance with fabricator questions, as-built updates, shop visits, and urgent responses to production issues. The position handles multiple projects in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, creates PDFs of completed drawings, and meets assigned project deadlines. It also supports company safety policies and may undertake additional duties as required. The role requires knowledge of construction practices and AISC requirements, the ability to read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications, and a commitment to accurate work that adheres to fabrication procedures. The Senior CAD Designer works collaboratively with departments, managers, staff, and the safety department, participates in safety meetings, and promotes the company safety culture. The position reports directly to the Detailing Manager and works closely with the Prefabrication Manager, Operations Coordinator, QA Manager, Project Manager, and Engineers.

Requirements

Knowledge of construction practices and AISC requirements.
At least 5 years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
At least 5 years of experience with Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
At least 5 years of experience with structural steel detailing or storage tanks.
College education or detailing certification and five years of experience in a related field, or equivalent.
Ability to read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications and ensure adherence to established fabrication procedures.
Ability to work with a team under pressure and within tight schedules.
Attention to detail.
General Microsoft Office experience.
Highly organized and committed to producing accurate and complete work.
Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with all departments, managers, and staff.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers, other departments, and managers.

Responsibilities

Create erection and fabrication drawings with a bill of materials using 3D and 2D software.
Review drawings and specifications for conflicts and errors.
Revise drawings following internal review or approval and contract changes.
Assist fabricators with questions as needed.
Update drawings based on as-built markups.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Create PDFs of completed drawings.
Meet deadlines for assigned projects.
Conduct shop visits as needed.
Respond urgently to production issues.
Follow and support all PBS Company Safety Policies.
Undertake additional responsibilities or duties as required to support company operations.
Participate in safety meetings and promote the company safety culture while working closely with the safety department.
Communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers, other departments, and managers.
