About The Position

This position will report to the Associate Director of Commodity Purchasing and assist with procurement and logistics of truck supplied feed grains to Tyson feed mills. This position will require someone with a detailed understanding of grain markets, supply chain management, and working in a physical procurement team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Ag Business, Economics or Ag production.
  • 3+ years of merchandising preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; will represent Tyson while interfacing with other Tyson team members and external parties.
  • Requires standard computer skills and experience with Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, AI (Claude, CoPilot, etc.)
  • A general understanding of the agriculture transportation system in the U.S. will be required to assist in making decisions; understanding the fundamentals of supply and demand and how these factors influence price levels for grain complex - both domestic and international.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the purchase to pay process for feed grain deliveries to Tyson feed mills.
  • Supplying grain in the most cost-effective way for assigned feed mills.
  • Ability to execute and manage multiple types of grain procurement contracts including fixed priced, basis only, and HTA contracts.
  • Ability to manage both a FOB and delivered position to maximize supply chain security.
  • Promoting the Tyson LGS Program to maximize the effectiveness of the company’s grain presence with local farmers and communities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with farmers and feed mill managers
  • Forecasting supply and managing inventory levels to assigned feed mills
  • Developing and maintaining daily bid sheets that align with assigned corn saving strategies.
  • Executing hedges related to forward purchases.
  • Resolution of customer/contract disputes
  • Maintaining effective customer relationships with vendors including producers, mill operations, resellers, and brokers
  • Contract management
  • Collect and analyze data to build trading strategies
  • Coordinating truck deliveries with the rail grain procurement team
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of fundamental grain markets and logistics values including rail, truck freight, and barge freight valuations
  • Managing a physical basis P&L vs. assigned gateways and mill locations.

  • Willingness to learn how to utilize new technologies like AI to drive efficiencies in role
