About The Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst to join their team. This role is responsible for implementing quantitative and qualitative analyses of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for various projects, specifically focusing on creating an Analytical Instruments Group Datamart in AWS Data Lake. The analyst will interact with multiple functions and layers within the organization in a fast-paced, highly visible business environment, identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing performance and effectiveness through data analysis. The position involves driving and collecting data on operational metrics, transforming it into actionable information, and providing recommendations to support business decision-making. The Sr. Business Analyst will also support business teams in gathering requirements for business-relevant metrics, lead a small team of Business Analysts, and collaborate with stakeholders to build and share knowledge. Key activities include documenting and testing work products, conducting data quality checks, understanding current report generation processes to support automation with IT, and developing robust, scalable solutions by leveraging in-depth knowledge of the data environment. Travel up to 5% domestic and international is required. This position can be worked remotely or telecommuted.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
  • 6 years of Business Intelligence, or related experience.
  • 2 years of experience working with structured data sources and database-driven reporting tools (e.g., SQL-based queries within BI platforms).
  • 2 years of experience developing interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI and other data visualization tools.
  • Hands-on experience using Python notebooks in modern cloud analytics environments (such as Databricks) to explore, transform, and visualize structured data.
  • Experience in Biotech or Technical Support industries.
  • Experience working with large sets of data, and completing data validations in a short period of time.
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical design documents.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing conclusions.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, tools, and team-based development like Jira, and Atlassian suite.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of quantitative and qualitative analyses of Key Performance for different projects for a wide range of measures within a project to create Analytical Instruments Group Datamart in AWS Data Lake within Thermo Fisher Scientific.
  • Interact with multiple functions and layers within the organization, and be involved in projects and interact in a fast-paced and highly visible business environment, identifying opportunities to optimize manufacturing performance and effectiveness based on data analysis.
  • Drive and collect data pertaining to specific Operational metrics and transform that data into information by highlighting important or useful information on a given metric and make recommendations and support business decision-making by providing an informed opinion based on data.
  • Support business teams within AIG to gather requirements for business relevant metrics.
  • Lead small team of Business Analysts to deliver high quality product.
  • Work in partnership with team and business stakeholders to build and share knowledge, ensuring consistent delivery of information.
  • Document and test work products and conduct data quality checks on a regular basis.
  • Work with divisional teams to understand the processes used to generate reports currently, supporting IT to automate these processes.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of data environment and leverage knowledge to build robust scalable solutions
