About The Position

Cox Automotive is seeking a Sr Battery Maintenance Technician to join their Vehicle Operations team. This role involves maintaining, inspecting, and repairing battery charging equipment and vehicle batteries. The technician will be responsible for disassembling, refurbishing, and reassembling battery packs, conducting diagnostic tests, and performing preventive maintenance. The position requires the use of electrical test equipment, packaging battery components for shipping, and logging work orders and data into the Alfred CMMS database. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training other technicians, handling escalated issues, collaborating with management, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and liaising with Vehicle Operations to support battery needs. The technician will also recommend process improvements and monitor workflow efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Requires strong knowledge of EV batteries, working with hand and power tools as well as basic computers skills needed to enter information into databases, and check and respond to emails.
  • Ability to read written operating instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent problem solving, teamwork and collaboration skills to work and communicate effectively with teams throughout organization

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or certification in a related discipline automative or technical
  • Experience in the EV Battery industry, preferably in the automotive sector

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, and repair battery charging equipment and vehicle batteries
  • Disassemble, refurbish, and reassemble battery packs using appropriate tools
  • Conduct discharge tests and diagnostics to identify and resolve battery issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer guidelines
  • Use electrical test equipment to verify battery functionality
  • Package and prepare battery components for shipping
  • Log work orders, inventory, and battery performance data
  • Recommend process improvements and monitor workflow efficiency
  • Mentor and train technicians; provide technical coaching
  • Handle escalated customer/stakeholder issues
  • Collaborate with Battery Maintenance management on resource planning
  • Ensure safety compliance and model safe work practices
  • Liaise with Vehicle Operations to support battery and service needs
  • Ensure battery work meets quality standards and contributes to overall operational excellence
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to the Alfred CMMS database with relevant maintenance and production data to support operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Other duties as assigned.
