Sr. Backend Software Engineer, Integrations Platform

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for setting technical direction to enable our product and infrastructure to scale with our business, driving complex projects across our technical stack, and mentoring our talented engineering team. Your past experience will be leveraged to enable and accelerate Vanta’s growth. The Integrations Platform team mission is to power the world’s largest trust automation ecosystem, enabling any person or agent to build, connect, and automate trust seamlessly. We own Vanta’s integration ecosystem, which currently includes over 400 integrations across Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), Identity providers, MDM, and HRIS. We are focused on developing the Integration Platform. This includes creating shared primitives for authentication, lifecycle, observability, and publishing to ensure all integrations are built on the same foundation. Our North Star is to eliminate the barrier to building integrations entirely. We aim to enable anyone to create an integration in minutes using declarative, low-code, and no-code patterns, supercharged by AI.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of industry experience with backend development
- Experience designing, building, and scaling backend systems, APIs, and Platform primitives.
- Played technical leadership roles for teams or complex projects
- Previous startup experience, or worked in an environment that prioritizes a bias for action
- Previous experience working on greenfield projects
- An interest in learning about security or prior experience in the space
- Open to using AI to amplify their skills and strengthen their work - demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders and engineers to deliver significant impact to our business
- Set direction for critical technical surface areas, enabling us to stay ahead of continued rapid growth
- Design, develop, and own new product functionality and/or infrastructure leveraging modern frameworks and tooling (TypeScript, React, Node.js)
- Work with talented and kind engineers to make a significant impact on our customer base, enabling them to improve their security and prove it
- Contribute to building Vanta’s engineering culture as we grow
