About The Position

As a Sr. Backend Engineer I on the Investment team, you will build and maintain backend services that power stock trading, including orders, market data, portfolios, and transaction history. You will deliver well-defined features with high quality, develop your system design skills, and help maintain a platform that investors rely on every trading day. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 4 years of professional backend engineering experience, including running services in production.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Go, or another modern backend language.
• Good understanding of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven design, and reliability basics.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and query tuning, Redis caching, and Kafka messaging.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, containers, and CI/CD.
• Ownership mindset and clear communication.

• Experience in capital markets, brokerage, payments, or another regulated, high-traffic environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for stock trading and portfolio features.
• Deliver features from technical design through production, including tests, monitoring, and alerting.
• Ensure financial processes, quantities, and prices are handled accurately, with safe retries and clear audit trails.
• Integrate with internal systems and external parties such as exchanges, clearing services, and banks.
• Write clean, well-tested code and actively participate in code reviews.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and help ship lasting fixes.
• Improve performance and reliability, especially around market open and peak trading volume.
• Work with Product, Operations, and Compliance to turn requirements into reliable solutions.
