Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer/Architect

Altera Semiconductor•San Jose, CA

About The Position

Altera is seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior AWS Cloud Engineer / Architect to lead the design, implementation, optimization, and operation of AWS cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise applications, business operations, and semiconductor engineering workloads. The role combines AWS architecture expertise with practical engineering, infrastructure automation, production troubleshooting, security, and operational excellence. The position translates architecture into working solutions and partners with infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and engineering teams. Proven experience supporting high-performance computing (HPC) workloads and high-throughput, scalable storage is a core requirement. The position designs, deploys, configures, and maintains AWS infrastructure across accounts and environments; builds highly available, resilient, and scalable solutions; and supports connectivity between AWS, corporate locations, and engineering environments. It develops reusable Terraform modules and infrastructure automation, operates and troubleshoots production cloud environments, and implements security, governance, disaster recovery, observability, and cost optimization practices. The role also enables semiconductor engineering teams by supporting compute, storage, performance, development, testing, and data-intensive workloads. It architects and operates HPC environments and high-throughput shared storage, optimizing compute, storage, and network performance in partnership with engineering teams. The stated salary range is $187,000–$250,000 USD for the Bay Area, California only. Actual salary may vary based on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and training. Incentive opportunities reward employees based on individual and company performance. The company uses artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants. Applicants must be eligible for any required U.S. export authorizations.
