Airbus U.S. is looking for an enthusiastic and creative electrical engineer to develop solutions for next-generation satellite Avionics. We're looking for candidates who can bring exceptional engineering skills and strong experience in aerospace programs to the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
  • A minimum of 8 years with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a Master's degree.
  • Proven track-record of working with aerospace hardware and/or software systems, starting from conceptual designs and tradeoffs thru detailed design, development, manufacture, integration, test, deployment, and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for electronic circuit design and PCB layout.
  • Proficiency in high-speed design and signal integrity, including applications with FPGAs, SOCs, Ethernet, and SpaceWire.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, etc.).
  • Familiarity with electrical parts-stress analysis, worst-case circuit analysis, and development of design FMEAs.
  • Be team-minded and ready to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural, fast-moving and complex/technical environment.
  • Flexible attitude and strong initiative.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, electronic equipment and/or supplies up to 40lbs/9kg.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and outside areas including uneven surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
  • Familiarity with FPGA firmware and software development is a plus.
  • Familiarity with VPX hardware design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with space environmental effects on electronic circuits is a plus.
  • Active DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design, manufacturing, and testing of next-generation, high-performance satellite avionics hardware.
  • Leading and performing moderate and complex assignments as the Responsible Engineer for multiple new avionics components currently under development.
  • Support the development of board-level design specifications to ensure compatibility with various expected mission environments (SWaP, radiation, lifetime, etc.) and the flow down of subsystem level requirements, focusing on all phases of the development lifecycle, including Design for Cost/Design for Manufacturability/Design for Test.
  • Lead the electrical design of circuit boards and electronics modules to comply with design requirements, including selection of EEE parts, ECAD design entry, circuit simulation, and circuit analysis.
  • Lead and/or manage PCB layout efforts, signal integrity analysis, and review and approve the final PCB manufacturing data package.
  • Manage subcontracts for PCB fabrication and assembly, and lead inspect of the final products to ensure they are compliant with specifications.
  • Lead test specification development, including the authoring and execution of test plans, the specification/design/procurement of all required test equipment and hardware, and the authoring of final test reports.
  • Support design requirements specification and testing for hardware interfaces, FPGA development, and software development.
  • Support system design reviews and cross-functional engineering activities (thermal, mechanical, radiation, reliability, etc.).
