About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Production Planner in Norfolk, VA. The Production Planner will be responsible for managing and optimizing integrated material and production planning activities to support the successful execution of customer and contractual requirements across assigned programs and manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Program Management, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Inventory/Warehouse, and other Supply Chain functions to ensure demand is accurately represented within the planning system, and that material, capacity, and production activities are synchronized to manufacturing need dates and contractual delivery commitments. The Planner plays a critical role in achieving Master Schedule Attainment, customer on-time delivery, inventory optimization, efficient utilization of manufacturing resources, and effective execution of government contract requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Working knowledge of integrated material planning, production planning, manufacturing execution, and shop-floor processes.
Familiarity with SIOP, MPS, MRP, capacity planning, production scheduling, work order management, and manufacturing sequencing.
Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and planning data analysis; SAP experience preferred.
Ability to analyze demand, supply, inventory, capacity, and production data to build executable manufacturing plans.
Proven analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills across multiple programs and priorities.
Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration with Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Finance.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and regulated aerospace/defense or government contracting environments

Nice To Haves

APICS/CPIM, Lean, or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Translate customer and program demand into executable production and material plans aligned to the Master Production Schedule, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and contract delivery requirements.
Use ERP/MRP systems to manage demand, supply, production schedules, work orders, purchasing requisitions, inventory, and manufacturing priorities.
Maintain planning data integrity by managing key ERP/MRP parameters such as lead times, lot sizes, order policies, planning codes, and manufacturing lead times.
Develop, maintain, release, reschedule, and monitor work orders and production schedules to ensure alignment with current demand, capacity, and contractual commitments.
Review MRP/ERP outputs, planning exception messages, and reports daily to identify discrepancies, validate recommendations, and take corrective action.
Evaluate material, inventory, engineering configuration, and capacity readiness to ensure work orders are executable and production can proceed as planned.
Proactively identify, manage, and escalate risks including material shortages, schedule changes, engineering issues, quality constraints, inventory discrepancies, and capacity limitations.
Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, and other functions to resolve shortages, BOM/routing issues, supplier delays, and production constraints.
Support inventory management, material staging/kitting, production sequencing, and level-loading activities to optimize manufacturing execution and schedule performance.
Participate in SIOP, readiness reviews, recovery planning, and performance tracking to support operational metrics, on-time delivery, and contractual compliance.
