About The Position

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest undergraduate college at Cornell and consists of approximately 4,600 undergraduates, 1,370 graduate students, 685 faculty, 40 academic departments, and 300 staff. The college receives almost 35,000 undergraduate applications per year. The Senior Associate Director of Admissions plays an integral role in the Office of Admissions of the College of Arts and Sciences, assisting the Director in overseeing the creation, implementation, and coordination of recruitment, selection, and yield activities that will contribute to the College’s enrollment goals. The Senior Associate Director manages the Seasonal Reader program, provides overall supervision for two Assistant Directors of Admission, and has an additional specialty focus that is TBD (e.g. data management; recruitment; etc.). The Senior Associate Director also coordinates and executes the selection process for an admissions region for which they will be responsible. This position is located in Ithaca, NY. After an initial on-campus orientation period, this position offers the option of hybrid work flexibility. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an admissions office or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail, and to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proven record of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must possess sound judgment, ability to respond in a professional manner, and demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in working effectively with all constituents (including staff, faculty, advisers, applicants, and families) throughout the admissions process.
  • Ability to function well as both a team player and individually.
  • A high level of both verbal and written communication skills, including ability to represent the College of Arts and Sciences in presentations.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, data analysis, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Thorough understanding of, and a deep commitment to, the value of a liberal arts education in the 21st century.
  • Demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.
  • Proven experience connecting inclusion, belonging and wellbeing practices to business goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of holistic admissions process for selective to highly selective US universities.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems in higher education such as Slate.
