About The Position

As a Sr. Associate Derivatives Accountant, you will support the accounting and reporting of Lincoln's derivative investment portfolio and related transactions. In this role, you will contribute to the monthly close process, statutory reporting, hedge accounting activities, and control execution while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial results. Working closely with Accounting, Investments, Risk, Treasury, and Operations teams, you will analyze derivative activity, perform reconciliations, support audits and regulatory reporting, and help identify opportunities to improve processes and controls. This role offers the opportunity to build specialized expertise in statutory accounting, insurance products, and derivative instruments while contributing to a highly visible and critical function within the organization.

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in derivative accounting that directly aligns to the specific responsibilities for this role
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Analytical skills and close attention to detail is necessary

Responsibilities

  • Supports the monthly statutory close process for derivative investments by preparing accounting entries, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepares and maintains statutory reporting schedules and analyses in accordance with established procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Assists with statutory hedge accounting activities by maintaining documentation, tracking designated hedges, and compiling required reporting information.
  • Performs reconciliations of derivative-related accounts and researches routine variances, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Reviews derivative activity and settlements to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and supported by source documentation.
  • Executes assigned SOX controls and maintains complete and accurate documentation in support of the control environment.
  • Supports internal and external audit, examination, and regulatory requests by gathering data and preparing supporting materials.
  • Assists in validating the completeness and accuracy of derivative data, cash flows, and reporting outputs using established review procedures.
  • Identifies process inefficiencies or recurring issues and recommends practical improvements to templates, procedures, and workflows.
  • Supports system implementations, testing activities, and process changes by executing assigned tasks and validating results under guidance from more experienced team members.
