About The Position

The Sr Associate Data Scientist will join SAS’s Applied AI and Modelling Team (AAIM), within SAS R&D. The team designs, develops, and implements AI models for SAS customers across industries including manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, retail, and life sciences.

The role applies AI, computer vision, and machine learning to customer challenges, creating models that deliver measurable impact. It involves collaborating with SAS experts, engaging directly with business and executive leaders, and developing innovative products and demonstrations that help customers understand and realize what is possible.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative field; an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Strong research background in computer vision model development.
• Experience using open-source solutions to solve computer vision and machine learning problems.
• Strong coding skills, preferably in Python or SAS.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both in a team and individually.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with deployment using the Nvidia CUDA Toolkit.
• Experience implementing computer vision projects in industry and communicating directly with customers at different levels.

Responsibilities

• Build high-end analytic models using supervised and unsupervised learning to provide decision makers with data-driven insights addressing business problems and objectives.
• Drive the development, testing, and implementation of AI models for specific customer use cases.
• Create intuitive visualizations to communicate large datasets and complex relationships.
• Translate analytical insights into reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
• Participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.
• Follow applicable security policies and processes to support secure software development goals.
