About The Position

As a Sr Test Engineer at Sierra Space, you will leverage your extensive expertise and experience to lead and contribute to advanced testing and validation projects of aerospace systems and components, working on cutting-edge satellite and spacecraft programs. You will work with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and provide guidance and mentorship to early career engineers. Representing Test Engineering, you will engage with cross-organizational senior personnel and serve as the prime technical contact on significant programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +6 yrs experience).
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.
  • An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one area of test engineering principles and practices (dynamics, thermal, measurement, HSI, SW Test, Integration, etc.).
  • Ability to work without appreciable direction with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and guide early career engineers in the completion of job assignments.
  • Extensive technical expertise and working knowledge in the execution of Test Engineering job functions.
  • Expertise with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.

  • Proficiency with advanced engineering software tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, or TestStand for testing and validation.

  • Apply extensive technical expertise and working knowledge in the execution of Test Engineering tasks, providing innovative solutions to complex technical problems.

  • Oversee the successful completion of major program milestones, potentially functioning in a project leadership role.

  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on programs and projects, ensuring alignment with technical objectives and organizational goals.
  • Prepare and document detailed technical data, reports, and analyses to support engineering initiatives and project decision-making.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and information clearly to team members, senior engineers, and stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and successful outcomes.
