About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance Measurement, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in delivering P&L reporting, analysis, and insights for Definity’s Personal and Commercial Insurance businesses. The role works closely with senior finance and business partners to prepare line‑of‑business P&L reporting, executive and board‑level materials, and forward‑looking analysis, supporting decision‑making in a fast‑paced public company environment. The primary focus is on supporting the insurance business (Personal and Commercial Lines), with additional opportunities to support financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis for the growing National Broker Platform.

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Math/Statistics, or a related field
  • CPA designation (completed or in late stages of completion)
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or performance measurement
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in applying AI‑enabled tools within a financial reporting and analysis environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to senior management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with the ability to identify and execute improvements
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment to manage multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines
  • High degree of proficiency in English is required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • P&C insurance knowledge or experience considered an asset
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud EPM / Hyperion applications considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L reporting for Personal and Commercial Insurance, including analysis of key performance drivers
  • Produce executive and board‑level reporting, providing clear explanations of results, trends, and variances
  • Partner with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and business teams to analyze actual results versus plan and prior year and support business decision‑making
  • Support the month‑end close process, including journal entries, expense allocations, and review of financial results
  • Contribute to planning and forecasting activities for the National Broker Platform, including performance tracking and variance analysis
  • Leverage AI‑enabled tools and emerging technologies (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini) to enhance reporting quality, efficiency, and insight
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline financial reporting and analysis processes
  • Prepare ad‑hoc analysis and decision support in response to evolving business priorities
