About The Position

Warner Music Group's Global Business Services (GBS) is seeking a Sr. Analyst, Financial to join their US Participations team. This fully remote role will support all U.S. record labels and artist & label services divisions. The ideal candidate is a highly autonomous finance professional with a background in Audit, Commercial Finance, or Financial Reporting, ready to move into a fast-paced, dynamic industry. This role involves end-to-end ownership of financial statement preparation and analysis, leading month-end close tasks, acting as a quality gatekeeper for data fluctuations, translating legal agreements into financial models, compiling and analyzing transactional data, and proactively investigating artist inquiries and data issues. The role also includes peer leadership and mentorship, stakeholder partnership, and contributing to process transformation through automation and process improvements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required (Accounting or Finance preferred).
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a complex financial capacity.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, including complex calculations and working with large, disparate data sets.
  • Solid grasp of financial accounting principles and their application to P&L statements, reconciliations, fiscal close processes, and internal controls.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of taking full ownership of work.
  • Self-driven, highly organized, and able to execute with accuracy and deliver under pressure.
  • Ability to distill complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for internal customers.
  • Leadership traits necessary to mentor peers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Music, Media, or Entertainment (specifically in Participations, Royalties or Audit).
  • Proficiency with SAP S4 Hana, SAP Analysis for Office, BI and SharePoint.
  • Natural technical curiosity and digital innovation, having leveraged Generative AI tools to automate manual workflows and drive efficiency in finance operations.
  • Proven success working in a fully remote, Shared Services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Run the preparation and analysis of sophisticated participation profit-share and distribution financial statements, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and accounting standards.
  • Lead fiscal month-end close tasks, including complex true-ups, reconciliations, and expense accruals, acting as the link between statement reporting and general ledger accuracy.
  • Act as the team’s primary “Variance Detective” and quality gatekeeper, interrogating data fluctuations to provide clear narratives for management and reviewing peer statements for precision, audit-readiness, and internal control compliance.
  • Translate complex artist and label legal agreements into functional financial models, identifying and comprehending intricate deal terms and applying them to large-scale data sets.
  • Compile and analyze vast sets of transactional data to support statement reporting, budgets, and cash forecasts, providing critical financial data for deal models and audit responses.
  • Proactively investigate artist inquiries, data issues or audit claims with a focus on mitigating financial risk, anticipating future roadblocks and suggesting resolutions.
  • Take an active role in team development by guiding analysts, providing ongoing review feedback, and facilitating training sessions for new hires.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the company—from label finance and legal teams to senior executives—acting as a trusted partner.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the department by identifying inefficiencies and implementing technology-driven solutions, championing automation initiatives and process improvements.
