About The Position

This role focuses on administering, maintaining, and supporting IBM AIX, UNIX, and Linux server environments. The administrator will perform system installations, configurations, patching, and upgrades, and manage application servers in a secure, high-availability environment. Key responsibilities include monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, ensuring system security, supporting backup and recovery operations, and collaborating with other teams for system integration and optimization. Maintaining system documentation and participating in an on-call rotation are also essential aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with IBM AIX administration and UNIX server environments
  • Strong experience supporting Linux environments (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, or similar)
  • Experience with system administration in enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with application server administration (e.g., WebSphere, WebLogic, or similar)
  • Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in highly regulated or enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., shell scripting, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and storage systems
  • BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support IBM AIX, UNIX, and Linux server environments
  • Perform system installations, configurations, patching, and upgrades across AIX and Linux platforms
  • Manage and support application servers in a secure, high-availability environment
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure systems are properly secured, including patch management and system hardening
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
  • Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to support system integration and performance optimization
  • Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for incident response as needed
