About The Position

Join our dynamic software development team within UHC E&I Technology, where you will contribute to the design and delivery of AI-enabled solutions supporting Sales and Distribution modernization. In this role, you will focus on building and enhancing scalable components for sales workflows, distribution platforms, API integrations, and automation pipelines, leveraging cutting-edge AI-driven and agentic workflow capabilities. As a Senior AI/ML Engineer, you will develop and deploy machine learning models, generative AI solutions, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based systems that improve sales intelligence, operational efficiency, and decision-making across our employer, broker, and enrollment ecosystems. This is an exciting opportunity to work with innovative technology, translate business requirements into enterprise-grade technical solutions, and ensure high performance, reliability, and security within a collaborative, global team. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience
8+ years of professional experience in software engineering
2+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI/ML systems in production environments
2+ years of experience in enterprise application development, including API integrations and microservices architectures
Working experience with Generative AI models (e.g., GPT-based models), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, or agentic workflow frameworks
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B, TN, F-1/OPT, CPT, or other employment-based visa status).

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Practical experience with model evaluation, performance monitoring, and MLOps practices
Experience working in distributed or offshore team environments
Solid understanding of sales and distribution systems or enterprise platform integrations (including CRM, enrollment, or broker ecosystem integration patterns)
Familiarity with enterprise AI governance, Responsible AI principles, and security/compliance requirements
Proven solid problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Proven excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI
Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement
Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation
Contribute to the design and delivery of AI-enabled solutions supporting Sales and Distribution modernization, including integration across employer, broker, and enrollment ecosystems

Ensure adherence to enterprise Responsible AI principles, governance, and security/compliance standards
Collaborate with cross-functional and offshore development teams, participate in design and code reviews, and drive high-quality execution within defined project scope
