This Mechanical Engineer position, as an Advanced Propulsion Specialist, supports the EB Futures programs as the primary technical expert on weapon propulsion system design, performance characterization, and integration for advanced weapon programs. In this role, the individual evaluates propulsion system performance requirements derived from the weapon kinematic envelope and threshold platform integration constraints, assesses propulsion architectures for total impulse, burn profile, and thermal compatibility within the approved carriage and employment environment, and characterizes the propulsion-induced loads, exhaust environments, and platform ingestion risks at all approved carriage stations. The specialist provides authoritative technical guidance on propulsion system qualification methodology, motor performance modeling, propellant aging and shelf-life assessment, and the propulsion interface compliance standards that govern weapon carriage certification and platform clearance. During proposal evaluation and funded study oversight, the specialist reviews and scores contractor technical approaches to propulsion system architecture, total impulse and burn profile modeling, propellant selection and aging methodology, and propulsion qualification planning. The individual assesses the technical credibility of contractor propulsion integration approaches against government-established kinematic and platform compatibility requirements, evaluates whether proposed propulsion designs adequately address the thermal, acoustic, and exhaust environments imposed by the threshold platform carriage configuration, and produces independent government technical evaluation reports that directly support program office selection and funding decisions. The specialist participates in monthly technical interchange meetings with funded study performers, provides government technical direction on propulsion system verification approaches and motor performance trade studies, and supports the Technical Directors in midpoint go/no-go assessments of funded feasibility studies. This position operates under the direction of the Technical Directors and coordinates directly with the platform program office and applicable propulsion certification authority on motor safety, exhaust ingestion analysis, and propulsion system clearance matters.
