About The Position

As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you’ll be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying the state-of-the-art ground operational system. This role involves translating requirements into robust system designs, decomposing end-to-end system requirements, and coordinating with development and integration teams. The position offers opportunities for continuous learning and development, research-oriented work on practical solutions for national security, and a flexible work environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, design behavior.
  • Experience decomposing the high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment.

  • Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as, CAMEO or MagicDraw.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling.
  • Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers, mission partners, and other key stakeholders to translate requirements into robust system designs within a fast-moving timeline.
  • Decomposition of end-to-end system requirements into architecture, design, interfaces, and test cases.
  • Coordination with developers and integration and test teams to ensure component development meet system mission needs.
