About The Position

Amazon Web Services is seeking an Advanced Computing Solutions Architect to support its Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Energy (DoE), and broader U.S. Federal Government customers. This role focuses on helping U.S. Government customers leverage performant networks, computing nodes, and emerging technologies to solve critical workloads in advanced computing, including high performance computing (HPC), quantum computing, large-scale analytics, modeling, and simulation. The position is at the forefront of next-generation compute, building on Amazon's decades of investment in agile and elastic compute. Advanced computing is crucial for the growth of ML, AI, quantum research, and scientific discovery, with applications spanning autonomous vehicles, imagery analysis, financial trading, logistics optimization, and quantum algorithm development. Given the scale required, the cloud is an ideal deployment environment, and AWS is a leader in this space. As an Advanced Computing Solutions Architect (SA), the individual will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designing solutions that leverage AWS services to enable and optimize advanced computing workloads and their key performance indicators. This involves working across multiple domains such as HPC, quantum computing (Amazon Braket), custom silicon (AWS Graviton, AWS Trainium, AWS Inferentia), and high-performance networking. The role is part of the Specialist Solutions Architecture team, collaborating with other Specialist SAs to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive AWS adoption for advanced computing. The SA will also interact with other SAs in the field, providing guidance on customer engagements, and will develop white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers and partners. Additionally, they will create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to integrate AWS advanced computing solutions into customer architectures.

Requirements

  • Deep technical experience working with technologies related to advanced computing, such as high-speed I/O (storage, networking), processing (including GPU and custom accelerators), quantum computing frameworks, and code customization to exploit underlying hardware.
  • Ability to help customers architect enterprise grade solutions.
  • Familiarity with the ecosystem of software and hardware vendors in the advanced computing space, including HPC and quantum.
  • Ability to leverage knowledge of the ecosystem to help AWS customers in their technology selection process.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Very technical, with the ability to impress AWS customers at any level, from executive to developer.
  • US Citizen.
  • Currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
  • Ability to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
  • 8+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of working with Advanced Compute technologies including, but not limited to: Accelerated Compute, High Performance Compute, and/or Quantum Computing.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong engineering, physics, computer science, or mathematics background.
  • Previous experience with AWS.
  • Experience building large scale solutions.
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities.
  • Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS.
  • Understanding of deep learning training and inference workloads and requirements for high performance compute, network and storage.
