Position Summary The MCSO Sr Adm Support Asst is a senior administrative support role within the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). This position provides advanced administrative assistance to supervisors and executives, performing a wide range of administrative duties to support the smooth operation of the Programs department. Responsibilities may include managing calendars, scheduling meetings, preparing documents and reports, coordinating travel arrangements, handling correspondence, and maintaining confidential files and records. Provides direct assistance to residents to facilitate access to Reentry programs and program delivery. Responsibilities may vary depending on area of assignment, but may include completing resident screening or intake, conducting community outreach in collaboration with Reentry programs staff, and providing general customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or GED required
  • four years of clerical experience directly related to the area of assignment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to internal departmental staff
  • Completes resident screening and intake
  • Communicates effectively and clearly to residents when explaining program services
  • Disseminates information on documents required, services available, and community resources to residents in a professional manner.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of available resources
  • Make referrals to the appropriate community resources
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Maintain records of program participation and services provided to residents
  • Conducts community education and outreach
  • Prepare written correspondence such as memos, emails, presentations, forms, and other documents
  • Answer telephone or greet visitors and handle or direct inquiries to the appropriate persons according to the need/issue presented.
  • Set up and manage paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, such as correspondence, or other materials.
  • May maintain petty cash fund
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves minor concerns/issues or logistics.
  • Schedules interviews and/or assists with program preparation
