About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor/Corporate Accounting Manager, the Sr. Accounting Analyst provides superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service. The Sr. Accounting Analyst’s responsibilities include work that is varied and challenging in character, with responsibility for recommendations and decisions. The Sr. Accounting Analyst will support Health First leadership, across all levels, to communicate financial positions, provide recommendations, analyze complex financial transactions and apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Additionally the Sr. Accounting Analyst will support finance management in leading, mentoring and coaching Finance staff.

Requirements

  • BS degree in accounting, finance, or related field, from an accredited college or university required.
  • Five plus accounting analysis experience preferred.
  • Prior experience and knowledge in the use of software packages such as PeopleSoft Financials, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Windows.
  • Extensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of GAAP.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Enthusiasm and high level of job interest.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Possess computer abilities as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to relate well with all customers and peers.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value, and service.
  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and financial concepts necessary to analyze the financial position of the organization.
  • Remain current on all financial regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures.

  • Understanding of fundamental concepts to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree desired.
  • CPA licensure preferred
  • Experience in the Healthcare industry preferred.
  • Have a working knowledge of Lean concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial close leadership including identifying balance sheet anomalies, approving non-standard journal entries, preparing and posting complex journal entries, and providing guidance to staff during the close process.
  • Support Finance goals, reporting and control requirements, which may include reviewing and preparing various tax returns (e.g., 990), preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations, preparing high-risk account reconciliations, and providing significant support/lead for various financial audits.
  • Mentor and coach Finance staff on applicable reporting and control responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to significant transaction cycles and processes such as Treasury Services, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, Intercompany Accounting, Debt Compliance, Tax Compliance, Statutory/Regulatory, Internal/Line of Business Reporting, and External Reporting.
  • Lead, develop, and support ad hoc projects such as surveys, information requests, rating agency data, department leader project requests, process improvement task forces, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Participate in projects identifying financial savings.
  • Actively engage in streamlining processes and process improvements.
  • Continuously seek to improve the department’s work quality, efficiency, and technical knowledge.
  • Maintain a positive & respectful attitude towards colleagues as well as external customers.
  • Actively engage in team projects, team events and meetings.
  • Consistently exhibit excellent teamwork skills.
