About The Position

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the accurate and timely preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial data in compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other applicable federal accounting guidance. This role will be supporting core general and cost accounting activities, as well as the opportunity for involvement with complex or non‑routine transactions, accounting policy interpretations, and financial reporting matters. The role will collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, Tax, Legal, and Audit teams to evaluate accounting implications, drive process improvements, and support strategic initiatives. The preferred candidate would have a strong technical accounting foundation and is eager to apply authoritative guidance in a practical, business‑focused environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA or equivalent certificate preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts and their interaction with financial and technical accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with advanced skills to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in all financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative, leadership, and collaboration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, lead projects, and drive change in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a proactive approach to professional development.

  • Prior experience in technical accounting, public accounting, SEC reporting, or a public company and/or manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain financial accounting information to ensure completeness, accuracy, and U.S. GAAP compliance in multiple areas, including but not limited to: Revenue and expense recognition, Payroll and benefits accounting, Fixed asset ledgers, Operating and finance lease, Intercompany and related-party transaction accounting, Inventory costing and management, Support of manufacturing operations, Accounting associated with joint ventures and strategic partnerships, Public company reporting and disclosure activities.
  • Assist in the month-end closing process, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and U.S. GAAP, including active participation in internal and external audits.
  • Support the development, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of company accounting policies and internal accounting guidance memoranda, ensuring that documentation is audit‑ready, well‑supported, and clearly articulates rationale and alternatives considered.
  • Assess the accounting implications of complex or non‑routine activities, such as new contracts, transactions, and strategic initiatives, in advance of and during execution.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency, including the utilization of digital tools and system enhancements.
  • Lead collaboratively with the accounting team and other departments to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with company goals.
  • Provide leadership for special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
