About The Position

Superior Energy Services is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX. The Senior Accountant performs complex accounting functions with respect to periodic closing schedules to include cost reviews, account reconciliations, journal entry preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field is required
  • 4 plus years of experience directly related to the duties & responsibilities specified
  • Driven to provide a high level of accuracy while meeting on-time delivery requirements and supporting a strong internal control environment
  • History of enacting efficiencies and driving change
  • Demonstrable experience with fixed assets accounting, general accounting
  • Strong knowledge in GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of ERP systems – preferably D365
  • Ethical business practices
  • Results oriented with the ability to see how individual tasks affect the big picture
  • Accurately complete/maintain necessary reports/records in a timely and legible manner, according to applicable procedures
  • Ability to detect problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid resolutions
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers & employees
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas or Energy industry is a plus
  • CPA candidate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Executes complex journal entries, accruals, and financial transactions during the month-end close process in strict compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting standards.
  • Analyzes manufacturing work order costing, investigates labor/material variances, and provides detailed gross margin analysis on manufactured products.
  • Performs monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Partners with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to resolve complex transactional discrepancies and ensure accurate, timely transactions.
  • Audits inventory, manufacturing entries, and trial balances to identify inconsistencies, implement corrective actions, and report findings.
  • Provides/performs ad-hoc analysis and/or assignments at management’s discretion.
