About The Position

Bring your accounting expertise to a role where the work goes far beyond the general ledger. Shamin Hotels is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Richmond, Virginia. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys digging into the details but also wants to understand the bigger picture behind the numbers. You’ll work across multiple areas of our business—including employee benefits, payroll, insurance, labor costs, and financial reporting—giving you broad exposure to the financial operations of a large and growing hospitality organization. You won’t be working in a silo. This role partners closely with Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Risk Management, and operational leaders across the company. If you enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and turning complex financial information into something accurate and actionable, this could be a great next step in your career.

Requirements

  • A four-year undergraduate degree in Accounting is required for this position.
  • At least three years of professional accounting experience, ideally with exposure to operational accounting, high-volume transactions, or a multi-entity or multi-location organization.
  • Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, supporting audits, working across multiple financial systems, or handling complex allocations.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines—especially during month-end, year-end, audit, tax, and budget cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing payroll deductions, employer contributions, and benefit-related general ledger accounts for accuracy.
  • Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and cost allocations across departments and multiple entities.
  • Supporting the accounting and financial tracking of the company’s business insurance programs.
  • Managing prepaid expenses, accruals, amortization schedules, and insurance-related account reconciliations.

  • Recording and allocating purchasing card transactions and expense reimbursements.
  • Participating in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Preparing financial reports and analysis that help leaders better understand the business.
