As a part of Corporate Accounting, this position has responsibility in External Financial Reporting and Benefits Accounting. Financial Reporting tasks include, but are not limited to, preparation of annual and quarterly Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Forms 10-K and 10-Q, other ad-hoc SEC filings such as Forms 8-K, S-3, S-4, quarterly earnings releases, quarterly internal executive financial reporting packages, sections of the Board of Directors and Audit Committee reports and ad hoc requests from other Finance & Accounting departments, as needed. Preparation of SEC documents includes iXBRL research and tagging, as well as the compilation of supporting documentation to ensure all external financial reports are accurate, properly documented, tied-out and supported. Responsibilities also include required monthly/quarterly and annual governmental census/survey reporting, including coordination with numerous plants in order to meet required deadlines. This position is also involved in accounting for benefits-related areas including the 401k plan, stock purchase plan, stock option and other stock compensation plans, pension plans and medical plans as well as self-insurance reserves, stockholders' equity, treasury stock reconciliations, average shares outstanding and EPS calculations. Background in understanding SOX 404 risks as well as executing and documenting controls are important to the role. Additionally, this position works closely with other departments within Tyson and with external contacts including consultants, actuaries, benefit plan administrators and auditors, making the ability to build and maintain relationships and embodying Tyson’s cultural values important to success.
