About The Position

The Senior Accountant II - Wholesale Accounting executes accurate and timely transaction processing and executes settlement, reconciliation, and reporting activities across Vistra’s diverse energy portfolio. This role involves executing complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls. The Senior Accountant II will analyze data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency. They will review and reconcile information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices. Additionally, this role will assist in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines, and support continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions. The Senior Accountant II will also provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
Process improvement oriented
Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process

Nice To Haves

Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze settlement data for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, supporting timely and accurate financial reporting.
Lead wholesale activities such as the end-to-end settlement lifecycle, including data validation, dispute resolution, invoice generation, and revenue/cost recognition across various transaction types.
Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, contributing settlement insights to support business strategies and regulatory compliance.
Participates in special projects as required.
Supports compliance with the departments accounting governance framework.
