About The Position

The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting role is a highly experienced and skilled senior-level position responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, preparing complex financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. This role requires deep knowledge of accounting principles, project accounting, and revenue recognition, as well as the ability to mentor and coach junior accountants. The role involves verifying the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts, reconciling to the general ledger, and utilizing exceptional skills with accounting software tools and MS Excel for financial analysis and reporting.

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically 4+ years of related experience.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Exceptional skills with accounting software tools and MS Excel.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition principles.
  • Ability to provide effective coaching and mentoring to junior accountants.
  • Experience in preparing journal entries, accounting reconciliations and with the month-end close.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assess accounting impacts and preparation of technical accounting memorandums related to significant transactions.
  • Manage stock-based compensation expense and lease expense accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, disclosures, and partnering with third-party valuation specialists.
  • Preparation of the quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklist.
  • Support the SOX compliance processes related to financial reporting and disclosure controls, including regular communication with internal and external auditors.
  • Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting to support business decisions.
  • Manage complex reconciliations of general ledger accounts, intercompany transactions, and financial consolidations.
  • Research and implement changes in accounting standards and assess the impact on financial reporting requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accountants, reviewing their work and assisting with professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes and drive efficiency improvement.
  • Utilize exceptional skills with accounting software tools and MS Excel to perform financial analysis and reporting.
  • Apply solid knowledge and understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition principles.
  • Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned.
