About The Position

The State of Ohio (DCY) is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support enterprise database environments. This role focuses on database performance, scalability, security, and reliability across on-prem and cloud-based systems.

Requirements

6+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
Strong expertise in: SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and optimization
Database clustering, replication, log shipping, and high availability
Database design, configuration, and capacity planning
Distributed and multi-datacenter database environments
Azure Cloud and Oracle database platforms
DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Nginx)
Experience managing on-prem and cloud-based databases independently
Must pass fingerprint/background checks
Must comply with government security policies (no offshore work)

Responsibilities

Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments , including VM-based deployments
Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity, and availability
Configure and maintain SQL services (security, clustering, JDBC, replication, log shipping)
Perform database installations, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance
Provide DBA support for distributed, multi-datacenter environments
Collaborate with application teams, network, IIS, and storage teams
Troubleshoot and resolve database and application performance issues
Support DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Nginx)
Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions
Maintain database security, patching, and compliance standards
Provide Tier III support and technical leadership to junior staff
Develop technical documentation, plans, and architecture improvements
