About The Position

Empower AI is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to provide comprehensive database management support related to the global customer IT environment for the Department of State. This role involves Tier II support for all databases and Tier III support for all SQL databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases, as well as databases supporting both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications. The position will support modernized databases and assist with modernization initiatives. Responsibilities include proactive and reactive monitoring, responding to incidents and alerts, conducting manual maintenance, deployment, diagnostic health checks, validation, and automating processes where feasible. The SQL Database Administrator will perform routine database tuning, generate performance/usage reports, apply DoS-authorized patches, and execute/validate scheduled backups and restores. Additionally, the role requires supporting the integration of database services with partner agencies and internal applications, managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., SOA based ESB infrastructure), and managing physical and virtual infrastructure supporting databases in accordance with Government security and emergency protocols.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provides Tier II support for all databases and Tier III for all SQL databases, including the Customer Consolidated Database (CCD) and related databases, as well as databases supporting both legacy and modernized client/server and web-based applications.
  • Supports modernized databases and assists with modernization initiatives.
  • Conducts proactive and reactive monitoring, responding to incidents and alerts generated by database monitoring software integrated within the Enterprise Event Management and Monitoring capability.
  • Conducts manual maintenance, deployment, diagnostic health checks, validation, and reporting processes shall be automated, whenever feasible.
  • Performs routine database tuning, generates performance/usage reports, and applies DoS-authorized patches.
  • Executes and validates scheduled onsite/offsite backups and restores.
  • Supports integration of database service with partner agencies and internal applications, including managing middleware and messaging queues (e.g., Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) infrastructure).
  • Manages physical and virtual infrastructure supporting databases in accordance with Government security and emergency protocols.
